Replace Steel with Aluminum

 

Energy saving and emission reduction is the direction of automotive development. Automotive lightweighting has been mentioned by experts in industry summits many times, lightweighting has become the industry consensus, lightweight development process, the most prominent effect of aluminum instead of steel, and has been applied to most areas of automotive design.

Due to the complex forces and high strength requirements of automotive steering joints, they are often initially designed to be made of cast iron. With the development of lightweight, more and more casting experts are devoted to the lightweight research of steering knuckles, and many other famous universities and leading casting enterprises are conducting "aluminum instead of steel" experiments on steering knuckles.

Jixing R & D team seized the opportunity to cooperate with Geely Automobile to design and develop aluminum alloy steering knuckles. With the support of new materials, the front steering knuckle of the automobile, which was independently developed and designed by Jixing and produced by squeeze casting, was successfully developed in 2017, and successfully passed the bench test and road test. This is a bold attempt by Jixing's research and development team and a perfect expansion of the application field of squeeze casting process.

Jixing designed the steering knuckle to reduce the weight of the original cast iron steering knuckle by 60%, which draws a heavy check mark for the weight reduction target of the whole vehicle, and is crucial for the promotion and application of this steering knuckle in new energy vehicles such as electric vehicles. In the case of ensuring the structural strength, it greatly increases the competitiveness of the whole vehicle, and also makes some contribution to future generations through energy saving and emission reduction.

Jixing R&D team is expanding the possibility of using aluminum instead of steel for other products in automobiles, including swing arms, to ensure strength while providing customers with the best solution to serve customers and society.
